What's your favorite thing about Columbia?
My favorite thing about Columbia is its small-city feel, especially compared to the big-city atmosphere of my hometown, Philadelphia. When I was choosing colleges, I wanted a place that felt like home but also challenged me to step out of my comfort zone by moving away. Columbia struck the perfect balance as it offers a wide range of opportunities while still maintaining a close-knit, welcoming community.
What are your hobbies or things you like to do?
In my free time, I like to shop, go to the gym, and watch movies with my roommates. We have a weekly movie night that helps us relax, unwind, and take a break from schoolwork while spending quality time together.
What has surprised you the most about Nursing school?
One thing that has surprised me is that nursing school is more manageable than people often say. With good time management and organization, it is definitely possible to have free time and maintain a social life. Finding your balance is key to success, and once you do, you really start will thrive.
What is an accomplishment in college that you are very proud of?
One accomplishment I am proud of is making the President’s List during my first year at USC. Adjusting to college life and moving was a big change, but I stayed focused on my priorities like maintaining strong grades.
Why did you choose USC?
I toured USC in March of my senior year because my friend from high school had recently committed. I originally applied just for fun, not thinking I would actually go this far away for college. However, I instantly fell in love during my tour. The campus had everything I was looking for, and additionally, the competitive nursing program was a major factor in my decision.
What advice would you give incoming students?
Go out of your way to make friends. There are so many different types of people here, and you never know who might become your closest friend. It’s amazing how you can meet someone from a completely different background—geographically or culturally—and instantly click in a way you never expected.
