What's your favorite thing about Columbia?
My favorite thing about Columbia is the community that is built between all students and faculty. I love making new friends and Columbia is the easiest place to meet new people. If you are intimidated by that big school feeling, remember that everyone is in the same boat as you so don't be afraid to go up and talk to new people (that's how I met one of my best friends and roommate)!
What are your hobbies or things you like to do?
I love to water ski at the lake, play tennis, basketball or do anything outdoors. I also love to go shopping and spend time with my friends and family.
What has surprised you the most about Nursing school?
I was surprised how hands on clinicals are and how much more I have learned since then. It has helped me be able to say that I can confidently do many foundational nursing skills such as blood draws, catheter insertion and medication administration.
What is an accomplishment in college that you are very proud of?
I am very proud to be a College of Nursing Student Ambassador! I remember feeling lost and confused coming into college and I am so grateful that I can help out any student with any questions they may have and walk them through such a big change.
Why did you choose USC?
I chose USC for two reasons. First, the nursing program here is amazing and just got the top 3 percent in the nation! Second, my sister brought me to a football game when I was in high school and I immediately feel in love with the atmosphere that no other college can provide. (Plus, it was the USC vs. Tennessee game and I rushed the field.)
What advice would you give incoming students?
The best advice I can give is to get involved and step out of your comfort zone. Getting involved doesn't always look like a bunch of clubs or joining Greek life because there are so many ways you can make lifelong friends. I have made so many of my friends in the classes I am in, so being stuck in the same building twice a week for a few hours can become a great opportunity to get to know more people!
