What's your favorite thing about Columbia?

I love how vibrant Columbia feels, there’s always something happening. One of my favorite weekend spots is Soda City Market. It’s the perfect place to discover new local vendors, grab a bite from a food truck, and enjoy live music right on Main Street. Plus, Columbia has so many great trails, cafés, and cozy study nooks that make exploring the city feel endless.

What are your hobbies or things you like to do?

I love spending time with friends, whether we’re grabbing dinner, going on spontaneous weekend trips, or just hanging out and talking for hours. I’m also a big fan of binge-watching shows when I need to relax. There’s nothing better than getting hooked on a good series. Trying new things is fun too, like checking out a new spot in Columbia or going on a weekend adventure somewhere nearby.

What has surprised you the most about Nursing school?

What’s surprised me most is realizing how many people are going through the same challenges. Nursing school can feel overwhelming at times, but you quickly learn that you’re not alone. Everyone is figuring it out together, and there’s a strong sense of support, from classmates, professors, and even upperclassmen who’ve been through it. It’s comforting to know that when things get tough, there’s always someone there to help or just listen.

What is an accomplishment in college that you are very proud of?

One accomplishment I’m really proud of is learning how to balance all the different parts of college life. Nursing school takes up a lot of time, so figuring out how to stay on top of my classes while still making time for friends and things I enjoy has been a big win. It’s helped me feel more confident and less stressed, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

Why did you choose USC?

I chose USC I am still close to home without being too close, and because of its strong nursing program and the sense of belonging I felt when I visited. The campus is beautiful, and the faculty genuinely cares about everyone's success, and being accepted into the Honors College made it feel even more like the right fit, including being challenging, supportive, and full of opportunities to grow.

What advice would you give incoming students?

Since nursing school can take up so much of your time and energy, it’s really important to make space for yourself. Whether it’s going for a walk, watching your favorite show, or just taking a break from studying, those little moments of rest make a big difference.
