Our students are active on campus and in the medical community. It's easy to find a group where you can develop your skills, make connections and give back on a local, national and international level.

Student Organizations and Interest Groups

To educate future medical professionals about the disease concept of addiction and to assist them with resources on how to better serve patients in their community with substance use disorders.

The AI in Medicine Interest Group aims to educate students on AI in Medicine, promote innovative thinking in medical technology, and empower students to ethically harness AI power. AI is progressing at a rapid pace and will likely change the landscape of health care as we know it. Rising physicians must be prepared to utilize this technology and adapt to the rapidly changing field. The organization will also be in association with the AI in Medicine Extracurricular Track. This interest group will help students amongst different cohorts (medical years) connect with each other through their passion and interest in medical technology, as well as promote the program to M1 students.

Allies of Sistercare strive to assist the efforts of Sistercare in helping victims of intimate partner violence and their children. Allies of Sistercare provides a platform through which students can become involved in volunteering to promote the education and awareness of an issue we might all encounter during our time as physicians. Additionally, Allies for Sistercare aids our Columbia community by providing a steady volunteer force to promote the efforts against intimate partner violence.

The AMA seeks to promote the art and science of medicine and the bettlement of public health and strives to be the medical students’ leading voice for improving medicial education and advocating for the future of medicine. Specifically, our chapter aims to provide opportunities for students to learn about physicians’ involvement in healthcare, lead in the community through volunteer opportunities, and grow as future physicians through various meetings and events with leaders in the healthcare community.

AMWA is comprised of physicians, residents, medical students, pre-medical students, health care professionals, and supporters. AMWA is the oldest multi-specialty organization dedicated to advancing women in medicine and improving women’s health.

The Anesthesiology Interest Group (AIG) strives to provide opportunities to learn and engage with the medical specialty of anesthesia to those intrigued in the specialty.

The Applied Biotech Club (ABC) aims to educate students on biotechnology uses, inform students on newest biotechnologies, and to create an environment in which fosters the proliferation of ideas for new research questions and biotechnological techniques. This club is in association with the Instrumentation Resources Facilities (IRF), which provides a variety of services for analysis, specimen processing, and imaging. Fall 2023 is the first semester that the ABC is in effect.

This club would integrate community outreach with multiple different forms of art. This would include attending theatre/music/dance performances, participating in arts and crafts, and going to museums. Mixing this with trips to hospitals, nursing homes, and other care facilities to do similar activities to those there. We are hoping that through the creation of this group we will be able to participate in community outreach and help try to make patients' days a little brighter. In addition to this, exposure to the fine arts will help students appreciate and support the members of their community.

The Association of Women Surgeons chapter at USC SOMC is dedicated to providing a fun and enriching exposure to surgery while highlighting perspectives from those who have historically been underrepresented in the field. We host speaker lunches to hear and learn from a variety of surgeons, provide access to a network of mentors, and offer hands-on dissection and suturing practice. All medical students are welcome to join!

 The Biomedical Science Graduate Student Association (BSGSA) is an official organization at the School of Medicine Columbia. It serves School of Medicine graduate students through the improvement of the graduate school experience by fostering a sense of community, facilitating professional development, promoting personal wellness, and serving/educating the greater Columbia area. Anyone in the Biomedical Science Graduate Programs can join, including, but not limited to PhD, Master’s, Certificate, Prep, PA, Nurse Anesthesia, Rehabilitation Counseling and Genetic Counseling.

We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together, share their experiences, and support one another. At our organization, we recognize the unique challenges that black individuals and persons of color face in various aspects of life - be it education, employment opportunities or social interactions. Our goal is to address these challenges by providing resources, and events tailored specifically for this community.

Bright futures initiatives mission is to provide volunteer opportunities to students that will benefit children in South Carolina that come from disadvantage backgrounds, more specifically children that are in the care of the state (foster, or group homes). This group is open to make a positive impact in the future lives of our community members.

The Cardiology Interest Group (CIG) plans to host many exciting events throughout the year. This includes lunch seminars with speakers from the various subspecialties within cardiology such as electrophysiology, interventional, nuclear cardiology, etc. We also hope to have a CT surgeon speak as well. CIG will inform students on the career path toward specializing in cardiology, the lifestyle of practicing cardiologists, and the ongoing scientific studies that will influence the future of the practice.

CMDA is a national organization that fosters Christian community among health professional students. We host a short prayer group weekly as well as a weekly Bible study hosted and led by physicians in the Columbia area. We also host lunch socials with physicians throughout the year to discuss the intersection of faith and medicine, as well as their experiences throughout their careers. Membership is free and offers tons of opportunities for involvement in regional and national CMDA efforts including conferences, summer clinical internships, mission trips, and networking. Through CMDA, we want to be a source of encouragement throughout the long road of medical school.

Are you interested in community service? Do you want to organize service opportunities for other students at the med school? Consider serving with COG! We have worked with the Red Cross, Foodshare SC, Transitions Homeless Shelter, Prisma Health and more. We are looking for new leaders to take these partnerships and add more volunteer opportunities they are passionate about! 

The Counseling and Rehabilitation Student Association strives to serve and advocate for persons with disabilities. We strive to host events that serve and represent mental health disorders and other underserved populations. 

The organization is open to everyone regardless of their level of experience crocheting. The organization will hold events teaching members of the group and interested individuals who have less experience crocheting. We will also hold fundraising/donation events for homeless shelters in the Columbia area. We plan on holding crochet night events to promote networking through shared time working through crochet kits. Additionally, we aim to have guest speakers relate hand-eye coordination skills gained through crochet to coordination skills essential for delicate surgical procedures. Ultimately, through DCG we hope to use a shared interest of crochet to bond and better the community.

The Dermatology Interest Group strives to promote interest in and elucidate the pathway to a career in dermatology. We will accomplish this via educating and encouraging students on a prospective career in dermatology, partnering with fellow interest groups for collaborative programming, and by establishing connections with local dermatologists.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an organization dedicated to providing long-term medical care to communities affected by humanitarian crises and cut off from essential healthcare. We aim to expand MSF's presence in the state and foster greater involvement in its mission.

The Emergency Medicine Interest Group strives to provide meaningful educational and clinical experiences to its members about a career in emergency medicine, and to nurture increased interest in the field and impact the specialty has on our community. We aim to provide exceedingly adequate preparation to our members seeking residencies as emergency medicine physicians by exposing them early to the hallmarks of the profession and guiding them to develop a competitive and complete residency application. We will create more hands-on experiences for first and second-year medical students, allowing them time in the emergency room, to gain direct experience through clinical encounters and workshops. We will continue to encourage networking with current emergency medicine attendings and residents, which will allow our members to develop meaningful relationships on a personal and professional level. We also will generate community involvement to provide educational resources in things such as stroke recognition and BP screening to aid in the safety and well-being of our community. 

Are you interested in family medicine or just want to learn more about it? Join the Family Medicine Interest Group! Our goal is to educate students about the specialty of family medicine and the importance of primary care in the well-being of a patient. We host a variety of events throughout the year including lunch-and-learns and a clinical skills workshop. We also provide students interested in family medicine with the help and resources they need to reach their career goals in this field. 

First Generation Connections stands as a collaborative between USC School of Medicine students and first-generation undergraduate students in the Opportunity Scholars Program at USC. The purpose of this organization is to provide first-generation college students with an interest in a career in medicine with resources to aid their success in their undergraduate curriculum, admissions exams, and future endeavors in medicine. This organization seeks to support undergraduate students with limited resources through longitudinal mentorship, shadowing opportunities, and informative sessions to facilitate their success. Increasing diversity and inclusion is of the upmost importance for our medical school and the community at large. First Generation Connections seeks to bolster the diversity of our school through direct, focused engagement with an underserved cohort. 

Gastroenterology is quickly becoming a hub for physicians who recognize the importance of lifestyle medicine and preventative care. The field offers a wide variety opportunities, including a schedule balancing procedural-work and clinic time, the ability to combat epidemics related to diet and gut-health, and a good work-life balance. Our mission is to introduce medical students to the unique nature of this specialty, the impact a gastroenterologist can have on their community, and how one can best pursue the profession. Through engaging members in a variety of ways, we believe the gastroenterology interest-group will help unite and inform students interested in this manifold specialty as to its relevance, impact, and future. 

The Geriatrics Interest Group aims to increase the student interest in geriatric healthcare across the various programs USC offers. We will coordinate volunteer opportunities for students to visit local nursing homes, hold lunches for geriatricians to speak and conduct workshops, and create a student chapter for the American Geriatrics Society at USC. By allowing students in other USC programs to be a part of our group, we can increase the interest in geriatrics across multiple healthcare fields. 

The Global Medicine Interest Group strives to bring awareness to the impact and opportunities for medical students and physicians within the field of global medicine both locally and around the world. Our goals for this upcoming year are to bring in speakers from a variety of subspecialties to indicate the breadth of physicians needed in global medicine, highlight the impacts of the current pandemic on medicine abroad through talks by infectious disease specialists, epidemiologists, and the World Health Organization. We will help medical students get involved in global medicine by exposing them to potential fourth-year rotations and by partnering with local clinics serving the immigrant community here in Columbia via fundraising and volunteering.

 We hang out with children at Prisma Hospital when they’re admitted for prolonged stays. This is a low commitment club (few hours a month) dedicated to uplifting children’s spirit when they are receiving chemotherapy. Many times, these patients are alone when their parents and friends are at work/school. Our club is hoping to fill in those gaps to keep company with patients when they are alone. Any student that has a Prisma badge (therefore clearance) can participate. We also promote other volunteer opportunities in the community, such as volunteering at summer camps and participating in charity runs.

GABA is an organization for graduate students across USC's campus who study and conduct research in neuroscience. GABA's mission is to promote neuroscience research and education in the greater Columbia area and at the University of South Carolina through outreach activities directed towards students, organizations and the general public. 

Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of individuals experiencing homelessness in Columbia, South Carolina, through compassionate medical outreach, community collaboration, and advocacy. We strive to bridge the gap in healthcare access, encourage students to get involved in healthcare disparities, provide vital resources, and foster sustainable partnerships with organizations that uplift and support those in need.

HEALthy Strides is your go-to group for helping you maintain a healthy lifestyle even under the pressures of medical school! We maintain the garden on the UofSC SOMC campus and make the produce available for all students. Part of our goal is to supply endless fitness motivation with workout competitions and the virtual running club. We also host a Community 5k and Health Fair in the spring. During our (little bit of) free time, hiking, tubing, and volunteering are just a few of the weekend adventures we like to partake in. At the end of the day, we will help you learn how to take care of your mind and body to be successful under stress!

The Hematology Interest Group is dedicated to fostering a deep understanding and passion for hematology among medical students. We aim to provide educational opportunities, volunteer experiences, and professional networking to inspire and prepare the next generation of hematologists. Through collaboration with experts in hematology and engagement in research and clinical practice, we strive to enhance our members’ knowledge, skills, and commitment to advancing the field of hematology, ultimately improving patient care and outcomes in blood-related disorders and cancers.

We want to encourage anyone who thinks they might be interested in infectious disease to join our group. We plan on hosting multiple talks throughout the year related to HIV, Hepatitis C, coronavirus, and various other infectious diseases. We will also plan a panel of ID physicians to come in and discuss hot topics in the field. This will provide clinically relevant education to our members as well as provide opportunities to connect with local specialists. Additionally, we want to further our engagement in the community by volunteering/fundraising for local HIV/AIDS clinics. Through these, we want to encourage students to learn more about this specialty and its relevance in modern-day life.

Internal medicine is an extremely diverse field of medicine that offers a multitude of career options ranging from training as a general internist to abundant opportunities for subspecialty training beyond residency. The Internal Medicine Interest Group at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia (USC SOMC) serves to highlight the numerous fields of internal medicine and to provide opportunities for medical students to interact with professionals practicing in a variety of specialties and professional settings available to those who pursue a career as an internist. Due to the wide spectrum of options available to internal medicine residents, it can be confusing to begin exploring various interests as a medical student. IMIG aims to demystify the path of becoming an internist from medical school to residency and beyond and to explain how that path may look very different from person to person. To do this, IMIG works with local physicians to plan seminars highlighting their specialty and how they got there. Mentorship is also a crucial pillar of success in medicine, and IMIG hopes to promote positive mentor/mentee relationships between its members and internal medicine physicians.

Links to Care (L2C) is an organization that seeks to address food insecurity and transportation needs by connecting patients to community resources through interdisciplinary teamwork. Our organization allows students to gain volunteer experience and an understanding of the role that social determinant of health play in our community.

Our mission is to promote confidence and authenticity among students with natural hair, challenge stereotypes, and encourage inclusivity in professional environments. Through workshops, social events, community outreach and collaborations with other student organizations, we aim to create a culture where natural hair is embraced and respected.

This group aims to teach other interested students in working on cars. With a project car, we hope to teach students things about maintenance of a car. Additionally, we hope to take the project to a race with the hopes of raising funds for a medical-related charity. This group would be open to all students willing to learn more about mechanics.

MedConnect is a student association that works in conjunction with AED (National Health Pre-Professional Honor Society) at USC. We host socials, clinical skills practice, and admissions Q&A sessions, among other events. The purpose of the organization is to create a connection between medical schools and pre-health undergraduate societies to benefit both parties. 

Political engagement and voter agency is proven to be a vital determinant of health. How active we are in making decisions for our community directly impacts healthcare policy and could truly be the most powerful tool we have for making change. Therefore, MedCiv's mission is to educate and widen voter access in the school of medicine community by focusing the club's efforts on voter registration. 

This interest group is focused on enhancing knowledge on private practice, budgeting, real estate, and loan repayment from being a practicing physician outside of treating patients. 

Improve on the Spanish proficiency of students at the school of medicine in order to be able to better serve the vastly growing Spanish-speaking population in the United States and locally in the greater Columbia area.

MSA is in charge of hosting a variety of different social events and activities throughout the year to engage students in the MD and other professional programs at the School of Medicine. Some event examples from years past include the orientation week activities, tailgates for home football games, a Halloween party, an annual oyster roast, end-of-semester celebrations, and more. Membership in MSA is for all four years of medical school and includes a t-shirt covered by the dues.

Medical Students for Choice is an international network of medical students who believe that all people have the right to make their own decisions regarding their reproductive health. The USC SOMC chapter of MSFC strives to provide reproductive health education and advocacy opportunities for future healthcare providers. Through our educational activities we aim to demystify reproductive health choices, including abortion, so every student can provide well-informed, compassionate care to their future patients. Through our advocacy work we will help students use their voice to protect reproductive health choices at local, state, and national levels.

MEDtorship strives to connect USC Columbia School of Medicine students under a common goal of community service and mentorship. It is partnered with the Salvation Army of the Midlands with the Doing the Most Good Academy After-School Reading Program, which is dedicated to providing after school services to local children who are struggling academically. MEDtorship students tutor elementary students weekly and work together to develop educational projects and group lessons. This organization promotes longitudinal mentorship between medical students of all years as they work together to support, mentor, and tutor Salvation Army students.

The Military Medicine Interest Group provides information and support for HPSP students and others who are considering medical careers within the United States Armed Forces.

This student-led group will serve as a Miracle League chapter at the USC School of Medicine, aligned with the national Miracle League mission. It aims to create an inclusive and supportive baseball experience for children and young adults with physical, cognitive, or developmental disabilities by leveraging adapted fields, peer “buddies,” and volunteer support. Miracle League organizes adaptive baseball games on accessible fields and implements a “buddy” system, pairing each athlete with an able-bodied volunteer, offering on-field assistance and encouragement. Our goal is to promote inclusion and accessibility, giving local children and adults with disabilities opportunities to engage in sports, physical activity, and social connection while fostering empathy and leadership among future healthcare professionals. This student organization would be open to any enrolled medical student at USC SOM that would like to participate.

Our organization strives to create a welcoming environment where medical students can appreciate music, deepen their understanding of culture as it relates to music, and experience the impact that music can have on the local communities. As our organization is meant for both non-musicians and musicians, members can appreciate music by sharing, discussing, and attending musical events together, creating strong ties between students and providing relief from the stressors of medical school. We strive to provide musicians the opportunity to volunteer their talents by performing at off-campus events, establishing strong and unique connections between the medical school and the South Carolina communities. We understand that music is an important part of cultural identity; thus, we also strive to use music as a focal point to help medical students experience unfamiliar cultures, augmenting the level of understanding and empathy our future physicians have towards our multicultural society. 

The Neurosurgery Interest Group strives to connect students interested in pursuing the field of neurosurgery with the information and resources needed to best prepare them for a residency program in neurological surgery. Our organization will aim to connect students to clinicians who can apply our medical school curriculum with clinical applications in the field of neurosurgery, develop a neurosurgery mentorship program, and connect interested students with scientists conducting both clinical and basic science neurosurgery research.

The Nutrition in Medicine Interest Group (NMIG) aims to inform students about the importance of nutrition in clinical practice, as well as highlight cooperative efforts with other professionals within the healthcare team, including dieticians and related support staff. We would like to expose students to the role of nutrition across medicine by having clinicians from various medical subspecialties speak on how they incorporate nutrition into their medical practice. One of our main goals is to teach students how to educate patients about the importance of lifestyle changes, eating habits, and behavioral choices in their overall health. By raising awareness about diet and lifestyle changes, we aim to contribute to preventative care, improve patient outcomes, and provide culturally sensitive, actionable advice in the context of patients’ lives.

The ObGyn Interest Group will be hosting a variety of virtual and possibly in-person meetings where students can interact with practicing specialists in the field. We are planning on also holding an ObGyn resident panel where medical students can ask questions on topics such as residency applications.

The Oncology Interest Group (OIG) aims to kindle student interest in the variety of oncological career opportunities that are available. OIG aspires to integrate guest speakers discussing standard chemotherapy regimens, novel therapeutic technologies, and much more in an attempt to bring to life what we learn in the classroom. Additionally, speakers from a multitude of subspecialties (i.e. – Pediatric Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, etc.) will provide insight into the nuances of their daily lives, as well as their journey to get to where they are. Moreover, we seek to promote active engagement in our community through fundraising and volunteer events, research opportunities, and developing meaningful connections with local oncologists. 

Our mission is to provide medical students with opportunity, exposure, and mentorship within the field of ophthalmology. Bridge students with mentors for research opportunities in the field. 

The OSMIG leadership team aims to create a welcoming environment that will permit learning of both the field of orthopedics and the field of sports medicine, as many times these two can be muddled together. Through various talks and clinics (if possible due to COVID) we will help to facilitate the formation of relationships with various MDs in the communities of sports medicine and orthopedics. We hope you are excited to join us this calendar year and beyond! 

Our organization introduces students to the multifaceted field of Otolaryngology, specifically emphasizing the diversity of the field as it relates to various pathologies and patient populations. We will strive to continuously emphasize the surgical aspects of Otolaryngology to interested students at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia. We hope that a incorporates complicated surgeries and interesting clinical diagnoses, all while maintaining strong foundations in clinical medicine. 

The Pathology Interest Group is dedicated to expanding students’ knowledge about career possibilities in pathology. We will help foster an interest in the field by inviting speakers to virtual sessions, connecting students with shadowing opportunities, and building a community of interested students to discuss thoughts and ambitions. 

Our club is a mental health focused club for medical and grad students etc to volunteer with Final Victory Animal Rescue. Students would have opportunities to volunteer at the shelter, take a dog out for a day, or even do destress puppy yoga. We would also organize group outings to do group doggy day outs with up to 10 dogs! The purpose of this club is to give students who may not have time to have a pet of their own have some furry therapy to destress while also giving the shelter dogs some time away from the shelter to get love and destress as well.

The Pedagogical Interest Club strives to allow medical professional and graduate students to participate in interdisciplinary peer-to-peer teaching through learning sessions, open anatomy labs, and presentations from medical professionals to enhance professional collaboration and medical education. We want to build up the ability of students to teach early on in their medical education to prepare them in educating their future patients about their medical conditions and treatments and collaborating with all members of the medical team.

The Pediatric Interest Group is dedicated to fostering an interest in pediatrics among medical students and providing various opportunities to members who are interested in pediatrics to learn more about the specialty. 

The Plastic Surgery Interest Group (PSIG) exists to introduce students to the diverse field of plastic surgery and provides those interested in the profession with the skills and opportunities needed to match in this competitive specialty. PSIG seeks to educate medical students about the field through hands-on clinical workshops, social networking events with residents and faculty, information panels and lectures, and seminars with surgeons from different subspecialties. To ensure prospective students have competitive applications for residency, PSIG will facilitate opportunities for early student involvement in clinical and research experiences.

Like Pickleball? We are a loosely organized club that plans impromptu outings to local pickleball courts during down time and organized tournaments occasionally. It is a great way to stay active and interact outside of class.  Anyone is welcome to join and suggest a time to go pickle balling!

Our organization strives to create a welcoming space for LGBTQ+ identified students at USC SOMC, educate USC SOMC students, staff, and faculty on issues affecting LGBTQ+ individuals and their health, and to benefit the Columbia LGBTQ+ community through volunteering and programming that is conducive to their needs.

Our mission is to advance the integration of the concept of public health into medical education, clinical training, and patient care. Through workshops, collaborative projects, and hands-on experiences, we aim to cultivate a community of future physicians who understand and embrace public health’s impact on patient lives.

The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia Psychiatry Student Interest Group aims to foster interest in the field of psychiatry among UofSC SOMC students while also serving as a voice for mental health and healthcare advocacy within the university and the broader Columbia community. 

The Radiology Interest Group strives to support UofSC SOMC students interested in exploring the fields of diagnostic and interventional radiology by providing extracurricular opportunities to educate and foster interest in radiology through lunch-and-learns with guest speakers in the field, presentations, meetings, and workshops that allow for hands-on experience. 

The mission of the RCIG is to expand awareness of the opportunities provided by attending the regional campus (Florence), facilitate meaningful relationships between the preclinical students who desire to attend the regional campus and the clinical students, provide specialty mentors for the preclinical students, and to expand our presence in the community through various mentoring and volunteering endeavors. The Regional Campus Interest Group (RCIG) will also provide a connection between the Regional (Florence) Campus and the main USC SOM Columbia student body to improve relationships and collaboration. 

The Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) Interest Group aims to spark curiosity and build knowledge and awareness among medical students regarding the field of reproductive medicine. Our goal is to explore the many facets of REI – from clinical care to research and advocacy – by connecting students with local physicians, hosting engaging lunch-and-learns, and offering hands-on opportunities. We aim to create a supportive space where students can learn, ask questions, and get inspired by the impactful work being done in reproductive health.

The Rural Health Interest Group will be hosting lunches and events this year where speakers will present on topics pertaining to rural health. Students will have the opportunity to learn more about the unique healthcare needs for populations in rural areas. 

The Simulation and Clinical Skills Interest Group’s mission is to provide first and second-year medical students with hands-on opportunities to experience and develop pertinent clinical skills using high-fidelity simulation and educational workshops in the hopes of building students’ confidence before entering clerkships and residency. 

The SOM Running Club strives to create a welcoming environment to runners of levels to promote physical and mental well-being throughout medical school. 

SNMA is a national organization committed to supporting current and future underrepresented minority medical students, addressing the needs of underserved communities, and increasing the number of clinically excellent, culturally competent, and socially conscious physicians. 

The Surgery Interest Group strives to provide insight into the professional and lifestyle demands of different surgical subspecialties through lunch talks with surgeons, skills workshops, and coffee socials with surgery residents. Our organization strives to advance the integration of virtual reality (VR) technology in medicine by fostering innovation, education, and collaboration among healthcare professionals and students. We are committed to exploring the potential of VR to enhance medical training, patient care, and surgical outcomes, while promoting a forward-thinking approach to the future of healthcare. Through research and workshop, we aim to explore the next generation of immersive medical technologies.

The Trauma Surgery Interest Group is committed to exposing medical students to the field of trauma surgery through interactions with physicians and faculty in the discipline. We aim to create a community of likeminded individuals who will grow in comradery through both clinical and educational events. We are excited to welcome everyone interested in trauma surgery! 

The Ultrasound Interest Group at UofSC SOMC strives to work alongside the Ultrasound Institute to promote awareness of the current usefulness and potential of ultrasound via innovative and interactive programs at UofSC SOMC to engage the prospective and current student body, the Columbia area, and the greater medical community.

The Urology Interest Group is committed to providing a platform for medical students interested in urology to learn, connect, and grow. Our mission is simple: 1. Education: We strive to offer informative sessions and resources that give students a better understanding of urology career paths, treatments, and procedures. 2. Advocacy: We aim to raise awareness about urological issues and reduce stigma through open discussions and educational initiatives within our medical school community. 3. Professional Development: We provide opportunities for students to explore urology as a potential career path, connect with professionals in the field, and develop skills essential for success. By fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, we hope to inspire future healthcare professionals to make meaningful contributions to urological medicine. 

The Wilderness Medicine Interest Group provides an outlet for students who love the outdoors or for students interested in wilderness and survival medicine opportunities to explore and learn more about both. We provide educational seminars to learn about career opportunities in wilderness medicine, workshops on how to handle medical emergencies in wilderness settings, and annual camping trips to get outdoors and explore. We also host an annual competition, MedWar, to test your wilderness medicine skills!
