Bio

I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), educator, and business leader with more than 30 years of experience in accounting, finance, financial analysis, fraud prevention, and higher education.

After earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of South Carolina in 1991, I began my career with Policy Management Systems Corporation (PMSC). Starting in underwriting, I quickly transitioned into accounting and advanced to Lead Financial Analyst before becoming a manager in the Business Process Outsourcing division. My responsibilities included budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and acquisition evaluation. While working full-time, I earned a Master of Accountancy from the University of South Carolina.

In 2002, I joined the South Carolina Retirement Systems as Fiscal Manager, specializing in investment accounting. During this time, I passed all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination on my first attempt.

I later joined BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina as Supervisor of Accounting and Finance and was promoted to Manager of Accounting and Financial Services within three years. I led accounting operations for a division with more than $200 million in annual revenue, overseeing financial reporting, multi-state insurance premium tax compliance, budgeting, financial analysis, and internal controls.

My passion for teaching led me to begin as an adjunct instructor at the University of South Carolina Lancaster in 2004. In 2008, I transitioned to a full-time faculty position, where I teach accounting, finance, insurance, and business courses while preparing students for successful careers through practical, real-world instruction.

In 2017, I earned the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential and was appointed Division Chair of the Business, Behavioral and Criminal Justice Education Division at USC Lancaster.

I am passionate about developing future business leaders by combining academic excellence with real-world professional experience. My goal is to help students build the technical knowledge, ethical foundation, and critical thinking skills needed to succeed in today's dynamic business environment.
