Transfer Partnership Summit

In 2021, under the leadership of former President Pastides and former President Rhames, Midlands Technical College and the University of South Carolina began a renewed effort to strengthen collaboration around transfer articulation. Representatives from both institutions engaged in open, solutions-focused dialogue to examine and improve the existing transfer process. These conversations led to the development of a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), coordinated through the USC Provost’s Office, which established a consistent framework for creating direct transfer tracks. These tracks are designed for students who begin their academic journey at MTC with the intent to transfer to USC. The initiative supports associate degree completion prior to transfer and offers guaranteed admission to USC for students who meet established admission criteria.
