Working with SCANA Corporation has been an incredible learning experience for me.
Being in this environment has taught me so many things and I’ve met so many new people.
I learned in depth about the company and its history. I also learned about different
programming languages such as C Sharp, Java Script, Visual Basic, Hypertext Markup Language (HTML),
and Structured Query Language (SQL). In addition I learned how to use the company’s Macroman system,
which is how you enter your time for the week. As a Technical Assistant I am responsible for the
Oncall Database, which keeps track of what days team members are on call.
Classes that I have taken under the Technology Support and Training Management curriculum have
prepared me for some of my job tasks. Some examples would be when I had to enter information into
the Excel database through SharePoint. TSTM 346, Application For Tech Support I prepared me for this.
Another would be TSTM 352, End-User Interface Design, which gave me the basic understanding of how a
website works, what questions you should ask while designing the website, and always make a website user f
riendly. Another would be TSTM 370, Records Management, which allows me to read and understand the SQL
code in the RecClub project.
My plans for the future are to continue working as a Technical Assistant I at SCANA.
I will start graduate school in the Spring and continue my learning experience with SCANA so
when I have worked for a year I can apply for a full-time position and start my career here.
