Khadijah Thompson

My name is Khadijah Thompson and I did my internship at the Gambrell Computer Lab. I was a Help Desk/ Computer Assistant. On a daily basic I would help out the patrons that came into the computer lab with any computer problems that they might have that day. But on other days some of the things that I done at my internship was; build PC's and Mac's and also install new software onto the computers and also keep the lab updated. On other days I would be with at the Network Manager of the computer lab. And he would tell me about the things that we were going to do to improve the lab. I really didn't spend a lot of time with him because he was so busy doing a project for the school.

As of right now one of the most interesting things that I learned from this internship was the Linux Boot Disk. The Linux Boot Disk can be used when you get locked out of your computer or you forget your computer password, and you can use this disk to reset you password. I didn't think that there was something out like that. I thought that my computer was safe with a password on it. Now all someone has to do is to put that disk in and reset it. My supervisor was very busy so I really didn't get started on the things that I wanted to do.

My career goals are to finish graduate school and to become a Database Administer within a large company and to have a five to six figure salary within that company. To achieve my goals I will have to work extremely hard and focus on things one day at a time. I am very determined person and I am willing to put all my time and effort toward fulfilling my goals. I really liked my internship. Some days I was bored at work because I had nothing to but for the most part I had fun and learned a lot of things that will help me in the future. I also meet some very nice people.
