Working at Information Resources in the Housing Department at USC has really been a wonderful
experience for me. I have learned a great deal about how Information Resources operates on a daily
basis with assisting the Housing staff and computer labs in computer related problems.
The majority of the problems that the Housing staff has are login problems.
I have learned that you have to make sure that when you are logging in you have the correct
settings for the Tree, Context, and Server. When installing an operating system I have learned
that from the Boot menu you have to change the settings in the Boot Sequence so that the computer
boots from the CD drive first. Also I have learned a lot about wireless while working at Information
Resources. In order for the wireless to work you have to have Smart Enforcer installed on your computer
along with the Cisco VPN client and the McAfee Anti-virus software should be updated.
Throughout my internship, we had various situations where we
had to use the different IP address commands and settings.
I enjoyed this whole internship experience. I do like helping people with
their computer-related problems. I feel that I have learned a lot during
this time. I also gained valuable experience in troubleshooting, networking,
and general maintenance of computers. I can see myself doing this in the
future. The skills that I’ve learned in Technical Support have helped me along the way at Information Resources with troubleshooting tools and techniques.
I love to help people with various computer problems so one day I hope to own my own Technical Support business. By working at Information Resources I will take everything thing I have learned with me to become successful in my own career.
